Visit High Wind at Wind Energy Hamburg 2016

Renewable UK

High Wind will be exhibiting at the Wind Energy Hamburg event 27 – 30 September 2016.

Beat the high winds

High Wind has developed a unique intelligent guidance system – the Boom Lock – that allows an offshore crane to install wind turbine components at high wind speeds. Built to help reduce weather downtime during installation, the Boom Lock system allows complete control over the hoisted load – in windy conditions that previously would have delayed installation.

What is the Boom Lock©?

  • A specially designed unit mounted on the jack-up vessel’s crane
  • Available for all turbine manufacturers, contractors and jack-up owners
  • Suitable for all turbine makes and component types like blades, nacelles, rotor stars, helidecks etc.

What does it do?

  • Provides full control during the lifting operation
  • Stabilises the crane hook and thereby its load

How does it help you?

  • Lets you perform faster lifts of any turbine component– blades, nacelles or tower sections
  • Minimises uncontrolled movements from wind gusts and inertia

What are its benefits?

  • Reduces installation costs – lower costs of vessels and crews
  • Faster payback time and higher income due to earlier production from the wind farm
  • Safer working conditions during installation

Does it work?

  • Certified by ABS to lift turbine components at a 20m/s wind speed
  • Tests with a 6MW turbine blade proved its capability of lifting blades safely at 15m/s wind speed with gusts above 20m/s
